THE EXPERIENCE
Full Day HeliFish is our signature experience and one of the Top End’s most highly regarded fishing adventures.
Travelling by helicopter allows us to cover large distances in a fraction of the time, accessing multiple remote locations in a single day, many of which can’t be accessed by other means of transport.
The scale and remoteness of the areas visited means we rarely come across others. As a result, the fish stocks are consistently high with great variety increasing your chances of success.
Target species include barramundi, salmon, mangrove jack and more. Every season one or more customers land their bucket-list “metery” on a HeliFish trip.
WHERE WE GO
The habitats we visit stretch from the Cape Hotham and Mary River region (to the north east of Darwin) all the way south to the abundant floodplains, coastal creeks and estuaries of the Daly River and Anson Bay region (refer map below). Where we visit on a particular day will depend on a range of factors including the season, weather / rainfall, tides, recent fishing success and of course our customers’ requests.
IT’S MORE THAN FISHING
With up to 2 hours scenic flying included in the day, you will witness some spectacular Top End landscapes along the way including extensive river systems, vast floodplains, wetlands, billabongs and long stretches of deserted white sandy beaches with abundant wildlife present for much of the year.
There are days it must be one of the most spectacular nature-based displays in Australia. We have watched dingos chasing pigs, large herds of water buffalo on the march, enormous crocodiles and sharks, all from the air. You might also see brolgas and jabiru stalking prey in the wetlands, and kites soaring on the thermals – definitely do not forget your camera (and a spare memory card or two).
